Tiger Woods, the world’s best golf player

Known as Eldrick Woods, he was born in December 30th, 1975 in Cypress, California and he is the leading golf player of the times. By 2005, Tiger Woods had 10 important golf championships to his name.

Controversy has always surrounded Woods because of his racial origin, but for the golfer these issues have never been an impediment, Tiger Woods is quite aware that he is the leader of a sport traditionally made for white people. Woods reached fame after 3 consecutive victories on the U.S Amateurs before his 20th birthday. He became a professional golfer in 1996 and won 2 professional tournaments. In 1997 he surprised the world when he won the popular Masters Tournament in Augusta National Golf Club setting a new record.

With just 21 years, Woods became the youngest golf player to win a major tournament with the lowest scoreboard. He is the best paid athlete in the world according to Forbes magazine. For the 2006 season, Woods confirmed he will be part of the world Match Play that will take place in England from September 14 to

17. Woods said that hopefully this will be his year and will be able to win the golf tournament.
